Renault Sport Formula One Team ran a three-driver set-up for the opening day of the Formula 1 Grosser Preis von Österreich, with Jolyon Palmer taking the reigns in both first and second practice.
Whilst Jolyon had a smooth morning session, his afternoon was interrupted by an electrical problem after just seven laps.
Jolyon Palmer, #30, R.S.17-03
Free practice 1: P14 1:07.649, 31 laps
Free practice 2: P18, 1:07.623, 7 laps
Jolyon: “I had a positive morning as I was happy with the car straight away and it felt like the best FP1 out of the box for a while. We did a bit of fine tuning and I was feeling quite confident and comfortable on the track. It’s a shame we had an electrical problem in the afternoon and couldn’t get more laps in. The team is looking into it and the car should be good to go tomorrow morning.”
